Ransomware attacks are happening every day! For instance, have you heard the recent ransomware news:
- Colonial Pipeline, which affected gas prices;
- JBS Meat Packing attack, which has increased meat prices;
- handful of Tribal casinos that had to temporarily close to recover.
Ransomware attacks can happen to any organization. If you’re connected to the internet, you’re vulnerable – but how vulnerable are you? There are steps you can take to protect you.
- Do you have a recovery plan? A cyber recovery plan, not just a disaster recovery plan.
- Do you backup your data and is it resilient? Can your server, network, storage system recover quickly and continue operation whenever there is a “disruption?”
- Do you educate your employees how to recognize a possible attack that can come through email (phishing)?
- Are you monitoring your network – keeping an eye on your hardware efficiency, updating software, detecting and preventing issues and outages?
There are many steps you can take to protect you, as well as recover from a ransomware attack. But you need to be proactive. It’s not if you are attacked, it’s when. Are you protected?
