When your message is important and you need to ensure the intended recipient(s) sees it, use the convenient @mention skill. Within your message, just type @ before their name and you can make sure that a specific person or group sees a notification about your message in Teams.
To bring someone's attention to the thread
In the conversation (whether you are replying to a thread or starting a new conversation) type the @ sign and then start typing the person's name. Highlight the person, channel, or team and finish your message. Once your message is sent a notification displays on their screen and also in their Activity Feed.
To get the attention of a team, try one of these:
- Posting something in a Team channel, the channel name appears bold for every member of the team indicating there is new content.
- Type @name to message an individual.
- Type @team to message everyone on the team.
- Type @channel to notify everyone about that channel.
