Holding meetings via Microsoft Teams allows you to capture the audio, video, and screen sharing activity of the meeting. The recordings are then saved to Microsoft Stream so you can share the file securely with others in the organization.

  • Only one person can record the meeting.
  • Whiteboards and Meeting Notes are not currently captured in meeting recordings.
  • Everyone in the meeting is notified that the recording has started. A recording notification is also posted to the Chat history.
  • The recording will be uploaded to Microsoft Stream for all participants to view right within Teams.

Recording a Meeting

  1. When in a meeting, hover your mouse over the meeting screen and click the More Options button > Start Recording in the meeting control bar.

  2. To stop recording, hover the mouse over the meeting screen and click the More Options button > Stop Recording.

The recording is then processed (which may take a while) and saved to Microsoft Stream, where then it will be ready to view.

Viewing a Recording

  • If you were invited to the meeting, go to the Chat history in Teams and click the recording to view it.

  • If you recorded the meeting, you can share the recording to users who may not have been invited to the meeting but need to take a few additional steps:
    • In the Chat history, click the More Options button on the recording > Open in Microsoft Stream.

    • In the Microsoft Stream screen under the video, click the More Options (...) button > Update video details.
    • In the Permissions section, add people or groups who need 'Viewer' or 'Owner' access to the video.
