In a Teams meeting, users are allowed to share their screen. This includes scheduleld meetings by invite and impromtu meetings you start on the fly. In addition to sharing screens, you can also give control to other users or take control of the shared content.

Give Control

If you want another meeting participant to help you present or demonstrate something showing on your screen, you can give control to that person. You will both be in control of the sharing and you can take back control anytime.

  1. With your screen shared, hover your mouse near the top of the Teams meeting window and click Give Control


  2. Select the name of the attendee you want to give control to. Teams sends a notification to that person letting them know you're sharing control. While you're sharing control, they can make selections, edits, and other mofications to the shared screen.

  3. To take control back, hover your mouse near the top again and click Take Back Control.

Take Control

You can request control of another user's screen, for instance to help them solve a problem they are experiencing.

  1. To take contrrol while another person is sharing their screen, hover your mouse over the meeting screen and click Request Control in the meeting control bar.


  2. The user showing their screen is notified of your request and they will need to click Allow.


  3. While you have control, you can make selections, edits, and other modifications to the shared screen.

  4. When you are finished, click Stop Control in the meeting control bar to end the control session.
