Since more and more companies are relying on tools like Zoom to run their day to day business, security is a top priority. An up-to-date version of Zoom supplies you with some options to make your meeting more secure:

  1. Require a password when entering your meeting
  2. Enable a waiting room
  3. Implement both to your Zoom meeting.
  4. Lock an active meeting

Implementing both a password and a waiting room from your Zoom settings is fairly simple. When checking the box for a password, it will automatically generate a numeric password. You can change it if you like, but keeping it numeric makes it easy for people to join if they are calling in by phone. Activating the waiting room is always a good idea when setting up the meeting. A waiting room allows the host to view everyone requesting to access the call. The host has the final say on who may join the meeting, creating another layer of security for your meetings.

If you’re in an active meeting, you are still able to make it secure. You can either lock the meeting or enable the waiting room. Locking the meeting prevents anyone else from entering the meeting, only the participants that have already joined. Enabling the waiting room allows any new participant to join, but the host still has to allow them to join. Both options do not affect the participants already in the meeting.
